Getting Started with Podcasting: From Pre- to Post-Production and Beyond In-Person / Online
Want to learn how podcasting can support your teaching, research, or creative projects?
Led by Carlie King, Digital Media Specialist at the Lyons New Media Centre, and Ian Steinberg, Editorial Manager of The International Journal for Students as Partners at the MacPherson Institute and PhD Candidate in Communication, New Media, and Culture Studies, this introductory workshop provides an overview of podcast creation, covering essential steps such as planning, recording, and editing. The session highlights the institutional resources available at McMaster University to support podcast creation and includes demonstrations of select tools, equipment, and spaces available through the Lyons New Media Centre and the MacPherson Institute.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the basic components of a podcast and the stages of the production process.
- Identify campus-based resources available to support podcast planning, recording, and editing.
- Understand the types of equipment, software, and spaces available at McMaster for podcast production.
- Determine next steps for accessing support and resources for their own podcasting projects.
