Library Series for Grad Students: Introduction to Archival Research

Are you interested in using archival sources for your studies but don’t know where to start? Join Chris Long (Archives Arrangement and Description Librarian) for an introduction to archives and archival research for graduate students. In this session, we will discuss the basics of archives, archival terminology, and how to use archival sources in your research. By mastering archival concepts, graduate students will gain a grounding in primary source inquiry which will help them discover how using archival evidence will benefit their academic work. Our discussion will also explore the incredible wealth of archival sources available to McMaster students, which can be found in the William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections at McMaster University Library.
