Dashboards: Visualizing and Analyzing Data on the Go Online
Data dashboards are used across disciplines to translate complex data into actionable insights. Whether they are used to monitor patient vital signs in real-time, track policies and logistical systems, or look at climate patterns and ecosystem health: dashboards excel at revealing relational patterns and complex interactions that might otherwise remain hidden in raw datasets. Join us on February 26th, 2026 at 11am as we will be engaging in a discussion about data dashboards and strategies for integrating visualizations into active data management. This community of practice session will begin with two speakers and end with an open discussion on the success and failures of managing data dashboards!
Christine Homuth (GIS Specialist) will discuss the pros and cons of dashboard design for spatial data. She will discuss using ArcGIS to create interactive maps that reveal location-based patterns and relationships and discuss best practices for managing geospatial datasets. Subhanya Sivajothy (Data Analysis and Visualization Librarian) will discuss research data management strategies for dashboards, focusing on tools such as Power BI. She'll explore how to structure datasets for dashboard compatibility, implementing active data management practices, and maintaining data integrity throughout the visualization process.
